Frequently asked questions

The questions Gen X asks before signing up. Answered honestly.

About the platform

Who can see my information?

Only you and the Amigos you specifically invite. Your Amigos only see the sections you grant them access to, and only when you want them to. Adios staff cannot read your plan content. Our access to your data is strictly limited to technical administration.

How is this different from just having a Will?

A Will only covers the legal distribution of your estate. It says nothing about your superannuation (which requires a separate Binding Death Benefit Nomination), your medical wishes (which need an Advance Care Directive), your organ donation preferences, your digital accounts, your funeral preferences, or the practical information your family needs in the first 48 hours. Adios covers all of it, including the trusted network of people who know where to find it.

Is there a mobile app?

Adios is fully web-based and optimised for mobile browsers. You can access and update your plan from any device. A dedicated mobile app is on the product roadmap.

How long does it take to complete a plan?

Most people complete 70–80% of their plan in their first session (roughly 45–60 minutes). The rest involves gathering documents you may not have to hand, your Will, your super nomination, your insurance policies. You can come back and fill those in whenever you have them.

About your data

Is my data stored in Australia?

Yes. All Adios data is stored on Australian servers. We don’t send your personal information offshore.

What happens if I cancel?

Your plan remains accessible for 30 days after cancellation. After 30 days, your data and all uploaded documents are securely and permanently deleted from our servers. We will never sell, transfer, or retain your data.

What security measures does Adios use?

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Access to your account requires authentication. Document storage uses the same encryption standards as Australian banking. For full details, see our Security page.

About Amigos

What if I want to change my Amigos?

You can add, remove, or change Amigo permissions at any time from your dashboard. There’s no lock-in and no approval process. If a relationship changes, your Amigo list can change with it.

Can my Amigos edit my plan?

No. Amigos have read-only access to the sections you’ve shared with them. Only you can edit your Adios plan.

What does an Amigo receive when they’re invited?

They receive an email explaining what an Adios Amigo is, which sections you’ve shared with them, and how access works. They don’t see your plan content until access is triggered.

What if my Amigo doesn’t want to be one?

No problem. They can decline the invitation and nothing is shared. Then it’s time to think about who else in your life would be the right person.

Still have questions?

We’re a small team and we actually reply. Send us a message at info@adios.au and we’ll get back to you within one business day.
